This page is a tad short. A stub, if you will.
You can help by expanding the article with more information.

To do: think of something mildly witty to put in here.

To do:

  • Descriptions of all sound objects, maybe the list of all the sounds as an expandable
  • Document the tweaks from the original LittleBigPlanet in their own section.
  • Document the changes made in LittleBigPlanet 3.

A Sound Object is an audio gadget that plays a sound effect on activation.

Usage

Sound Modifier

A sound effect can be pitch shifted using the Sound Modifier in the sound object's tweak menu.

Activation

The sound object has a variety of built-in trigger modes depending on the chosen sound effect:

  • Player Proximity: The sound effect plays when the player approaches the sound object.
  • On Impact: The sound effect plays every time the attached object collides with something in the scene.
  • On Destruction: The sound effect triggers when the object is deleted or destroyed by any means. This will override the default destruction sound event if the object was destroyed by a Destroyer.
  • On Creation: The sound effect plays when the object is spawned into the scene by any means. This will override the default creation sound event if the object was spawned by an Emitter.

Alternatively, the player can connect a wire to the sound object's left input to trigger the sound effect with logic.

Tweaks

Choose Sound
Opens a sub-menu with a list of sound effects to play.

Trigger

Trigger Mode: (
Player Proximity •‎
On Impact •‎
On Destruction •‎
On Creation
)

If the gadget is not activated by a signal, this determines how the sound effect will be triggered.
Player Proximity
The sound object plays every time the attached object collides with something in the scene.
On Impact
The sound object plays every time the attached object collides with something in the scene.
On Destruction
The sound effect triggers when the object is deleted or destroyed by any means.
On Creation
The sound effect plays when the object is spawned into the scene by any means.
Input Action: (
On/Off •‎
Play Once or Toggle •‎
Modify Sound •‎
Modify Volume
)

Determines how the sound object reacts to the incoming signal.
On/Off
The chosen sound effect plays whenever the gadget receives a digital ON signal, halting when that signal turns OFF.
Play Once or Toggle
Action depends on the chosen sound effect. If it is a one-shot, it plays once when the gadget receives a digital ON signal. If it loops, it toggles playback every time the gadget receives a digital ON signal, similar to a Toggle switch.
Modify Sound
Modifies the sound effect based on the incoming analogue signal. This behaves as if the player was adjusting the Sound Modifier tweak, with +100% being 12.0, -100% being -12.0, and 0% being 0.0.
Modify Volume
Adjusts the playback volume of the sound effect depending on the incoming analogue signal.
Trigger Radius
Determines how close players can get before the Sound Object activates. This option was removed from the tweak menu, but the radius of the sound object is still visible when tweaked. Adding the tweak option back appears to be non-functional, but may have functioned properly in development for the first game. In LittleBigPlanet Portable the tweak is functional and works as intended, though it is disabled for sounds that have looping audio.

Audio

Volume: (0% - 100%)
Sets the playback volume for the chosen sound effect.
Sound Modifier: (-12.0 - 12.0)
Modifies the chosen sound effect, usually pitch shifting it up or down.
Position Sound: (
No •‎
Yes
)

If set to Yes, the sound effect will be positioned in the scene. If set to No, the sound effect will be audible everywhere.

Visuals

Visible in Play Mode: (
No •‎
Yes
)

Determines whether or not the object will be rendered in Play Mode.
