A Weaponator is a collectable item in LittleBigPlanet Karting that gives players a weapon when collected.

Overview

The Weaponator is placed in the same manner as other items; it has no collision, and will not obey gravity unless it is grouped with a Dynamic object.

There are two types of Weaponator: the Specific Weaponator always gives out the same weapon whenever it's collected, while the Random Weaponator dishes out random weapons based on the player's position and the level's Weapon Frequencies. Upon placing a Random Weaponator for the first time (or after the weapon pool has been manually cleared), a selection of default weapons is automatically added to the weapon pool, and assigned different probabilities for each position depending on whether the level is a race or battle. All Random Weaponators share the same weapon pool; adding/removing weapons or changing the probabilities in one of them will change it for all of them.

When a kart drives through a Weaponator, it will attempt to give them a weapon and then disappear, reappearing after two seconds. While the player is always able to collect Weaponators and cause them to despawn, they will only actually receive a weapon if the following conditions are met:

  1. The player is alive and not in a "destoryed" state, waiting to respawn.
  2. The player does not already have a weapon in reserve.
  3. The player is not currently using a weapon with a cooldown effect, such as the Boxing Glove or Shockwave.
  4. A Weapon Loadout set to replace the player's weapon is not active on their Spawn Point.

In addition to launching offensive weapons and obstacles, the player can sacrifice their current weapon (and all remaining ammunition) to protect themselves from incoming homing weapons by holding down on Left stick and pressing Square button at the right time, indicated by a shield icon appearing somewhere on screen (usually the bottom middle). If multiple homing weapons are locked on and in range, all of them will be destroyed at once. If the player's current weapon happens to be a Self Weaponiser, such as the Blue Rocket or Fast Foward, their effects will be applied to the user when an incoming weapon is blocked.

It should also be noted that, aside from normal use, weapons are discarded if the player presses Select button to reset themselves, or if an empty Weapon Loadout tweaker set to replace the owner's weapon is activated on their Spawn Point.

Stock Weapons

There are fourteen premade weapons that make up the game's stock weapon pool, which can be found on the Team LBP Objects page of the Goodies Bag:

Stamp Name Description
WeaponStamp Manual StraightShot.png Straight Shot Travels in a straight line, rebounding off of three walls before exploding. Karts that are directly hit by a Straight Shot are immediately destroyed.
WeaponStamp Manual SniperExplosion.png Lightning Bolt Fast electric projectile that travels in a straight line, but does not rebound off of walls. If it hits a kart, it gets destroyed.
WeaponStamp Seeker SeekerRocket.png Red Seeker Homing missile that targets the kart ahead of its owner. If it is not blocked, the missile destorys its target.
Battle Red Seeker Homing missile that targets the closest kart in the user's peripheral vision. If it is not blocked, the missile destroys its target.
WeaponStamp Manual MachineGun.png Paintinator Shoots three rapid fire projectiles; any karts hit by this lose traction for a few seconds, whilst dropped obstacles are destroyed outright. Can be shot three times.
WeaponStamp Self Portal.png Fast Forward Instantly warps the user past a portion of the track, depending on how far behind the kart ahead of them they are.
WeaponStamp Seeker Hydra.png Flash Bang Fires homing missiles towards every kart ahead of the user. If not blocked, the driver will be launched into the air and momentarily blinded.
WeaponStamp Manual MultiMine.png Triple Mine Drops three mines behind the user (or forward in an arc if Left stick is held up) one after another, exploding when a kart drives into it, a weapon hits it, or after 45 seconds have passed. Karts hit by one of the mine triplets lose traction for a few seconds.
WeaponStamp Manual Mine.png Mine Drops a mine behind the user (or lobbed ahead in an arc if Left stick is held up), and explodes when a kart drives into it, a weapon hits it, or after 90 seconds have passed. Karts hit by a mine are immediately destroyed.
WeaponStamp Manual LobShot.png Lob Bomb Lobs an Impact Explosive that explodes when it hits a wall or floor; any karts caught in the blast radius are destroyed. Can be shot three times.
WeaponStamp Seeker LeaderAttack.png Leader Seeker Homing missile that targets the kart in first place. If it is not blocked, the Leader Seeker destroys its target.
WeaponStamp Self BatteringRam.png Blue Rocket User transforms into a blue rocket and receive a x2 speed boost for 2.5 seconds, during which the user is invincible. Any karts that the user drives into get knocked aside. This transformation ends prematurely if the player touches a Launch Pad.
WeaponStamp Self AutoPilot.png Boxing Glove User transforms into a rocket powered boxing glove for five seconds. The glove travels down the track on its own, knocking aside any karts in its path; Left stick strafes left and right. The transformation ends prematurely if the player hits a Launch Pad.
WeaponStamp Self AreaEffect.png Shockwave Area of effect electric attack that lasts one second. While active, the user is immune to all hazards (with the exception of water and out of bounds), and any karts caught in its radius are destroyed.

*Lobbed Bomb Area Effect is not obtainable by default in any game mode, and is not present in the Goodies Bag with the other weapons, but it is used by the Lob Bomb for its area effect explosion. If the Weapon Frequencies are tweaked to make it obtainable in the weapon pool, then it functions similarly to the Shockwave.
