Like a Checkpoint, but you can save there, so not like a Checkpoint at all really.

In-game description

The Save Checkpoint was a variant of the Double-Life Checkpoint planned for LittleBigPlanet 3 that allowed players to save their progress in adventure levels.

Usage and Behaviour

The Save Checkpoint is placed identically to other Checkpoints, occupying the same Theck sub-layer. Unlike other Checkpoints it needs to be manually activated, either by pressing Triangle whilst standing in front of it, or by sending a digital ON signal through its input. On activation, the Save Checkpoint will save the player's progress in the current Adventure, and players can respawn from that Checkpoint up to eight times.

Removed the Save Checkpoint. Existing Save Checkpoint objects are converted to Double-Life Checkpoints, albeit with infinite respawns.
