- This article is about Checkpoints in LittleBigPlanet Karting. For Checkpoints in other games, see Checkpoint.
A Checkpoint is a waypoint object in LittleBigPlanet Karting, which can be used to guide players through more open tracks or arenas.
Usage and Behaviour
Checkpoints have three visual variants, though the differences are mostly cosmetic. The rainbow and green ring variants have large glowing arrows that hover above them, making them easier to discern at a distance.
Checkpoints have one input and one output; a Checkpoint is always active by default, but if a wire is connected to its input, it will be deactivated until it receives a signal. Once it receives a signal, it will appear in the scene and remain visible until a kart drives through it, after which it permanently deactivates and sends a digital ON signal through its output for one frame.
When a kart drives through a Checkpoint, it awards a set number of points, activates whatever is connected to its output, and optionally sets a new spawn point for that kart, before permanently disappearing. Checkpoints are updated on a per-player basis, so if one player drives through a Checkpoint, it will still be visible for players that have not yet driven through it. If a Checkpoint has a wire going into its input, it will only appear for the players that have personally activated it (unless the signal contains no player data, in which case it will appear for everyone at the same time). That said, if one player activates a Checkpoint, any logic it is connected to will be processed for all players.
