A Worm Hole, shortened to Wormhole in LittleBigPlanet 3, is a gameplay object that was first introduced in the LittleBigPlanet 2 Cross-Controller Pack. With two in a level, they allow players to quickly travel from one section to another.
While the Cross-Controller Pack is required to use them in LittleBigPlanet 2, Worm Holes are included as part of the default toolset in LittleBIgPlanet 3 and do not require DLC to use in that game. It was never officially added to LittleBigPlanet PS Vita, however, it was included with the Cross-Controller application - which was built from a modified version of LBP Vita - that came bundled with the DLC.
Usage and Behaviour
Worm Holes are placed similarly to Checkpoints, occupying the same sub-layer as them. In order to function as intended at least two Worm Holes must be placed in a level, with one tweaked to be an entrance, the other an exit. Typically one would connect the output of the entrance to the input of the exit. Pressing while standing in front of an entrance will cause the player to jump inside and enter stasis, reappearing at the most recently activated exit. If an exit does not exist, or is not wired correctly, the player will not reappear. In Create Mode, pressing
will force the player out of stasis.
While wiring Worm Holes together is the intended use case, a quirk exclusive to LBP2 is that exits without a wire plugged into them are always considered active, and will constantly spit players out of stasis. If there are multiple unwired exits in the scene, whichever one is the oldest will be the destination. This quirk was removed in LBP3, where Worm Holes must be wired and triggered with logic in order to function properly.
Inputs and Outputs
In LittleBigPlanet 2, Worm Holes have one input and one output, with the former doing slightly different things depending on the Worm Hole's type. For entrances, the input is used to instantly teleport the player as if they had activated it themselves. For exits, if there are any players in stasis it will spit them out at the exit's location. If more than one exit is active at a given time, whichever one was most recently activated will be the destination. The output sends out a pulse signal when the Worm Hole is used (either entering or exiting it).
In LittleBigPlanet 3, a power input can be found on the top, which is used to disable the Worm Hole until it receives a signal.

The Magic Door is a variant of the Worm Hole present in the data of LittleBigPlanet 3. Functionally, the two are largely the same, but one key difference is that Magic Doors have standard Checkpoints built into them; if a player runs past one and dies, they will be revived up to four times.
During development, the Magic Door was used in certain Adventure Mode levels — namely the Contraption Challenges and The Great Escape — and stuck around up until the Private Beta. It was ultimately cut from the final game in favour of reusing the existing Worm Holes, though the model, animations and sound effects were all repurposed for the Level Link's door variant.
