The Platform Sensor is an unreleased sensor gadget found in the data of LittleBigPlanet 3 that outputs based on which system the level is being played on.

Usage and Behaviour

The Platform Sensor has one output, which sends a digital ON signal if it detects that the level is being played on the specified platform. In the Adventure Mode and other levels created by Sumo Digital, this is used to optimise sections for PlayStation 3 users without needing to create separate levels for both systems. For example, by turning off lights or deleting special effects that might lower the framerate on weaker hardware.

It's worth noting that while LittleBigPlanet 3 is compatible with PlayStation 5 systems, the Platform Sensor is unable to tell the difference between PS4 and PS5 systems, or even distinguish different PS4 hardware revisions.
