— Item description |
The Spratchton, also known as the Sprung, latched piston, was a Joint Connector planned for LittleBigPlanet 3 that could be compressed and expanded by heavy objects.
It is present in the September 7, 2013 prototype of the game, but was removed from all subsequent builds, and thus does not function when imported into the final game.
Usage and Behaviour
The Spratchton was placed in the same manner as other joints, snapping onto the sides of any solid objects.
The Spratchton functioned as a fusion of both a Spring and Piston. Like a Piston, the player could set a minimum and maximum length which it would never contract of expand beyond, and like a Spring, the player could set a specific length between those two points that the joint would try to bounce back to, as well as how much force it exherted to maintain it. Spratchtons were fairly sturdy when dealing with light-weight objects, but lost all stability when a heavy object landed on it, contracting or extending depending on the connector's orientation; when the heavy object was removed, it bounced back to the latch's length.
It is believed that the intended use of Spratchtons was to create weighted launchers for Toggle to interact with.
Tweaks
Maximum Length: (0.0 - 5,000.0) Determines how far the spratchton can extend to. |
Minimum Length: (0.0 - 5,000.0) Determines how close to its start point the spratchton can contract. |
Stiffness: ( ) If set to Yes, the spratchton will keep both objects aligned. If set to No, the connected objects can rotate around the end points, albeit constrained to a 180° angle range at either end. |
Latch
Length: (0.0 - 5,000.0) Determines the resting point of the spratchton — the median point between the piston's minimum and maximum lengths — which it will try to maintain when not being pushed or pulled. |
Strength: (0% - 100%) Determines how much pressure the latch can withstand before it contracts or expands. |
Spring
Compression acceleration: (0 - 1,500) Determines how much force exherts when contracting to the latch's length. |
Compression speed: (0 - 1,500) Sets the spring's top speed when contracting. |
Expansion acceleration: (0 - 1,500) Determines how much force the spring exherts when expanding to the latch's length. |
Expansion speed: (0 - 1,500) Sets the spring's top speed when expanding. |
Visuals
Visible in Play Mode: ( ) Determines whether or not the object will be rendered in Play Mode. |
