Get a Grip is the second main level in the original LittleBigPlanet's story mode, and the third level in the Gardens. Similar to First Steps, it is a very basic tutorial type level where the many characters teach you about everything to do with grabbing. Additionally, you learn how to place decorations and use it to win a Wooden Steed race to the scoreboard.
Overview
Plot overview
Sackboy scales the castles and fortresses around the Gardens with the aid of the wooden steeds and the continued assistance of the the King and the Queen.
Walkthrough guide
Get a Grip continues the player's adventure as the King greets you inside a small town. He tells you how to grab with the
button, and afterward the player navigates their way over a few wooden walls, pulling spongy objects to be able to scale over the top of them. Upon exiting the town the player meets a Wooden Steed, who tells the player to jump on its back and ride down the hill infront of them.
After the ride, the player meets yet another Wooden Steed, who informs them how to put more strength into the players pushing and pulling actions; by pressing the jump button repeatedly while pushing, the Steed is able to continue and be used as a platform for the player to progress forward. Next, a structure needs climbing, two large wooden platforms only reachable by pulling and pushing a couple more wooden steeds around. At the top platform, the player needs to cover a hole in the Steed's path with a bit of sponge, which lets the Steed be ridden down another hill to the next set of obstacles. Along the journey forward, the player encounters a castle guarded by a treacherous moat that kills the player when attempted to be swam in.
Seesaws and swinging balls of sponge allow the player to reach the castle's roof where Little Xim introduces Level Keys. Through a small platforming challenge, the player can collect a key to access Tie Skipping, the only Survival Challenge in the Gardens. The Queen meets the player at another Tutorial TV, where it tells the player how to place decorations. The player places the donkey tail on the Wooden Steed, and after a short intro to races by one of the Birds, the player races ontop of the Steed down to the Scoreboard where the King congratulates the player on their prowess on grabbing.
This level is another to use the Yellow Star sticker for Sticker Switches that allow the player more prizes after completing Skate to Victory, and obtaining the Yellow Star sticker for themself.

Quotes

You have to learn to walk before you can run, or in this case before you can grab – so now you’ve become a first class runner, it’s time to grab things. The King and Queen’s castle makes a perfect place to swing about the place, and ride the royal steeds.
