— Level description

The Construction Site is the final level of the Metropolis. The level involves vertical and physics-based platforming and contains the theme's boss.
Overview
Plot overview
After Mags the Mechanic and Sackboy return from the Subway, they realize that Ze Dude has returned to vandalize Mags' construction site with fireballs. Sackboy ascends to the top of the site, where he faces off against Ze Dude and his bouncers in a fireball shootout. Ze Dude admits defeat and, out of respect for Sackboy, suggests he take his private jet to the Islands to train under his mentor, Grandmaster Sensei.
Walkthrough guide
Entering at the foot of Mags' construction site, she suggests you meet Ze Dude face-to-face to stop his vandalization spree. Passing through a Start Gate, you'll begin your race up to the top of the site; be sure to watch out for the fast-rolling fireballs. With some tricky platforming, you can traverse hanging metal girders for some hard-to-reach prizes. Be wary, many of these beams are suspended over Horrible Gas that will dissolve you if you don't maneuver correctly.
As you climb, you'll face more fireballs, along with a hazardous Basketball Head and some Spike Hammer Blocks. If you time things right, you can gain some height off their brains to score some hidden Prize Bubbles. At a hanging girder bridging two sides, check out the X2 sign to the left of you for a puzzle area. Progressing forward, as the layers narrow, the fireballs will become harder to avoid, and you'll need to hop over them before they run you over.
Following a few more fireball gauntlets, you'll face off against Ze Dude and his Bouncers in a shootout. Aim carefully with the bouncing platform, and you'll send their shots back into them, blowing them up. While the first Bouncer moves slowly and wields one weapon, his successor will dual-wield, and Ze Dude will completely shift the arena to avoid your shots. Finish him off, and you'll be victorious.
Outside the arena, Ze Dude congratulates you. Impressed by your skills, he sends you off in his private jet to The Islands for training under Grandmaster Sensei.

Quotes

Not content with trashing Mags the Mechanic’s car, Ze Dude is on the rampage and using his giant fireball machine to vandalise her construction site. Perhaps it’s time this punk was taken down a notch and taught a lesson.

Trivia
- During development, the Construction Site did not feature a boss fight against Ze Dude. Instead, Sackboy would drive Mags' monster truck to the end of the level, destroying Ze Dude's fireball machines in the process. Despite not facing off against Ze Dude in this revision, the level concludes with the same dialogue as seen in the final iteration.[2]
- The monster truck toy used in this sequence is awarded as a collected all gifts prize.
