Joyous greetings and welcome to my gardens. I created them with a little help from my wife, The Queen. Now a big adventure awaits you. Good luck!

The King, "First Steps"

The King is a major character in the original LittleBigPlanet, and the creator curator of the Gardens. He is married to the Queen and rules over the Gardens with her.

History

LittleBigPlanet

The King makes his first appearance in the original LittleBigPlanet, where he is the first creator curator Sackboy meets along his journey. The King, along with the rest of the Gardens' residents, help Sackboy learn the fundamentals of LittleBigPlanet's mechanics, such as running, jumping, and grabbing. Once the King deems Sackboy as capable of exploring Craftworld on his own, he arranges a submarine trip to the Savannah.

In the finale of LittleBigPlanet's story mode, it is revealed that the King was one of many creator curators kidnapped by the Collector and trapped in the Wilderness. Sackboy frees him from his cage and he, along with the rest of LittleBigPlanet's stolen creations, consoles the Collector once he vents his insecurities about being excluded from the community.

LittleBigPlanet 2

The King makes a cameo appearance in LittleBigPlanet 2 in the level Patients Are A Virtue. Likely one of many victims of the Negativitron's meanie infections, he is found locked up in Eve's Asylum For The Mentally Alternative, now dressed in white attire and holding a bouquet of flowers. He appears disheveled and disoriented, his head twitching sporadically.

The Journey Home

The Journey Home's third and final level, Spring Time in the Gardens, features the King as a prominent reoccurring character. As the many creator curators around Craftworld await the return of Sackboy and Bunkum's three heroes, the King hosts a reunion party in the Gardens. When things go awry, he aids OddSock with a Springinator to traverse the Gardens' castles. When OddSock is attacked by haunted ghosts, the King goes out of his way to take one out himself.

Later, once the four heroes have reunited, the reunion party goes through as planned, with the King partaking in the festivities.

Seaside Surprise Level Kit

The King makes another cameo in the Seaside Surprise Level Kit, depicted in a puppet show of him repeatedly hitting the Collector over the head with his sceptre.

General information

Physical appearance

The King is a large, portly man with a scruffy beard and balding hair. He has bushy eyebrows, rosy, red cheeks, and large lips. He is adorned in a golden crown, red robes with purple striped accents, and black shoes. He holds a golden sceptre adorned with an emerald gem.

Personality

The King is wise, polite, and welcoming toward Sackboy as he guides him through LittleBigPlanet's basics. In the Journey Home, he appears far jollier and more whimsical toward OddSock, owing in part to his fully voice-acted dialogue.

Trivia

  • Cut dialogue found in the Seaside suggested that its creator curator, Captain Victor, was a cousin of the King.
  • The King's voice lines are labeled as "Uncle" in LittleBigPlanet PS Vita. This is consistent with the Queen, who is labeled as "Auntie."
  • The King is the only creator curator from the original LittleBigPlanet that uses no assets from his own theme.
  • A cut voiceline from the Journey Home pays homage to the King's gibberish voice from the original LittleBigPlanet, where he blames it on a "lemon drop" caught in his throat.
