A Thruster, known as a Rocket in the original LittleBigPlanet, is a physical object that propells itself and its host object forward.

Usage and Behaviour

A Thruster has a square hitbox that occupies a single thick layer. When placing a fresh Thruster from the Tools Bag, or after copying an existing one, it will automatically snap to the closest object on the same layer, indicated by a dotted line on the target object. In the console games and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita, it can be placed as a separate object, but in LittleBigPlanet Portable, it must be attached to another object; while it can be detached from one object and re-attached to another, pressing Circle button to try and use the Rocket on its own will simply destroy it. Similarly, if a Rocket's host object gets destroyed, it will disappear with it.

While active, a Thruster propells itself in the direction that the cone on its base is pointed, or the opposite direction that the nozzle on the bottom is facing (e.g. if the nozzle is pointed at the ground, the Thruster will travel upward), pushing any objects that are attached to it.

In LittleBigPlanet Karting

In LittleBigPlanet Karting, the Thruster is treated as a gadget rather than a physical object, and serves as a substitute for the Mover. Like in the core platformers, the Thruster applies force to the object based on which side of the object it is placed. It is always active by default, but if a wire is connected to its input, its acceleration will always be scaled based on the incoming analogue signal.

Tweaks

Physical Properties: (
StaticStatic •‎
DynamicDynamic
)

When Static, the object cannot be moved while time is unpaused. When Dynamic, the object can be moved and is subject to gravity.
Tweak Connector Strength.png
Acceleration: (0% - 100%)
Sets how much power the Thruster propells itself with.
Tweak Speech Voice Temp.png
Apply at Center: (
NoNo •‎
YesYes
)

If set to Yes, the Thruster's propulsion is applied at the object's center, rather than at the gadget's position on the object.
Tweak Camera View LocalSpace.png
Local Space: (
NoNo •‎
YesYes
)

If set to Yes, the Thruster's angle of propulsion changes as the object rotates and tumbles. Otherwise, it will always propel the object in the same direction regardless of its orientation.
Tweak InputAction OnOff.png
Currently On: (
NoNo •‎
YesYes
)

If set to Yes, the Thruster is always on by default. If set to No, it requires an input to blast off.
Tweak InputAction Carousel.png
Input Action: (
On/OffOn/Off •‎
Strength ScaleStrength Scale •‎
Stay OnStay On
)

Determines how the Thruster uses the signal it receives from its input.
Tweak InputAction OnOff.pngOn/Off
The Thruster turns on when it receives a digital ON signal, powering off when that signal turns OFF.
Tweak InputAction StrengthScale.pngStrength Scale
The Thruster's acceleration is scaled based on the incoming analogue signal.
Tweak InputAction OneShot.pngStay On
Once the Thruster receives a digital ON signal, it will stay on forever, even after it loses power.

Audio

Thruster Sounds: (

)

Sets whether or not to play the Thruster's associated sound effects.
