Levers are physical switches that can be pushed or pulled to send a signal. There are two kinds of levers:
A 2-Way Switch sends a signal when the handle is pulled from one end to the other.
A 3-Way Switch starts in a neutral position and sends a signal when the handle is pulled in either direction.
Usage and Behaviour
Levers occupy a single thick layer, and are comprised of a wooden base and a grabbable sponge handle. While intended for players, any Thick-layer object is capable of moving the handle. A Lever sends a digital ON signal when its handle is moved from one end all the way to the other, which turns off when returned to its original position. An analogue signal is also sent depending on how close the lever is to one side, with each lever type having different signal ranges.
A 2-Way Switch sends a digital ON signal when the handle is pulled from the left side to the right, turning OFF when flipped back. It also outputs an analogue signal between 0% and 100% based on how close the handle is to the right side. The 2-Way Switch's mechanism is set up so the lever will try to stay on its current side, e.g. if it's on the left side and the player pulls it part-way to the middle, it will snap back to the left once the player lets go; if pulled past the centre to the right side, it will then snap to the right side when released.
A 3-Way Switch sends a digital ON signal when the handle is pulled either to the left of the right; when released, it bounces back to its neutral position and turns OFF. It also outputs an analogue signal between -100% and +100%, assigned to the left and right positions respectively, with 0% being the lever's neutral position. The 3-Way Switch's mechanism has a spring connecting the handle to its base, which causes the lever to bounce back to the centre when released.
Tweaks
Switch Behavior: (
) Changes the output behavior of the switch, which will change the behavior of attached gadgets. |
Invert Output: ( ) Inverts the gadget's output, turning On signals Off and vice-versa. |
Electronics and Cable Visibility: (
) Determines whether or not the gadget (and any outgoing wires) will be rendered in Play Mode. |
