This page lists all of the updates released for LittleBigPlanet 2, as well as the additions, changes and bug fixes made between versions. Initially these patches were named after different types of cakes, though this practice fell out of use once development was passed from Media Molecule to Sumo Digital.

  • Fixed a bug in the previous update that broke the Sackbot's ability to look at tags.
  • Fixed the timing for certain Pins and trophies like the "1,440" Minutes of Create" pin.
  • The game no longer crashes when destroying or deleting a Wall Jump material while another player is sliding on it.

  • Added the data for the DC Comics Premium Level Kit and its associated costumes.
    • Gibberish voices from the pack have been added to magic mouths for all players.
    • A tutorial level for the Memoriser has been added.
    • New Pins and trophies for the DC Comics Premium Level Kit have been added.
  • Added new tweaks to various existing gadgets.
    • Level Links now have the option to continue the currently playing music track while loading the next level.
      • Does not apply to sequenced music.
    • Magic Mouths have a number of new options.
      • Text can now be displayed through a standard speech bubble, a thought bubble or a caption.
      • The on-screen position of the text can be changed.
    • AND Gates can be set to multiply the inputs.
    • OR Gates can now be set to add the value of analog signals together.
  • Added a Memoriser Data screen to the Settings section of the pause menu.

Changes

  • The text that appears on the friend list in the pause menu has been changed to reference LittleBigPlanet HUB.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from being able to leave reviews on community levels.

Version 1.24

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Sackboy could spawn behind Checkpoints.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed levels to be moved by users other than the original creator.
  • Fixed a bug where editing a review from the "My Profile" sreen would delete the review.
  • Fixed a rare issue where the incorrect level badge would be shown when publishing a level.
  • Fixed issues from the previous update related to the reporting system.

New Bugs

  • When attempting to review a level, the "Leave your own review!" button disappears after about half a second.
  • Placing any objects obtained from the community levels included with LittleBigPlanet: Game of the Year Edition will crash the game.

Version 1.23

Fixes

  • Fixed a bug from the previous update that caused the Slice 'N Dice Tool to crash the game.
  • The Rare Prize Crown has been removed from players that downloaded it during the small period of time that it was accidentally released on the PlayStation Store.
  • Killing a Sackbot while recording its actions will no longer cause errors in Create Mode.
  • Going through a Level Link when the target level has been deleted will no longer cause errors.

  • Certain items previously not given out in the Cross-Controller Pack have been added to the start of certain levels.
    • The Holo-Suit Eyes can be found at the start of The Pleasure of Treasure.
    • The interactive music tracks 'Escape from San Crispin' and 'The Pleasure of Treasure' can now be found at the start of their respective levels.

Fixes

  • The Teacher's Pet Pin (and its associated trophy) can now be obtained by watching the tutorials from the base game, no longer requiring the Cross-Controller Pack to unlock.
  • Fixed a bug from the previous update that limited head/hip movement while playing online.
  • Fixed a bug from the previous patch where Sackbots seated in Controlinators would appear to float above them.

Version 1.20

  • Added the data for the following downloadable content packs.
    • LittleBigPlanet 2: Cross-Controller Pack
      • Gibberish voices from the pack have been added to magic mouths for all players.
      • Five new tutorials for features introduced in the Cross-Controller Pack have been added.

  • Added "Players" tweak to certain gadgets, allowing gadgets to detect either all players, or just the host.
  • The Impact Sensor can now be set to only detect collisions from players, rather than objects.
  • All maximum range tweaks can now be set to infinite by setting the range to below 0.0

Changes

  • Minimum PS3 firmware requirement is now 4.20.

New Bugs

  • Head and hip movement is restricted to vertical rotation for guests using DualShock 3 controllers in online multiplayer sessions.
    • This issue does not affect players who are using PlayStation Move controllers.
  • Sackbots sitting in Controlinators attached to emitted objects created prior to this update become glitched once emitted, floating above it rather than sitting inside it.

  • Players can no longer lethalize another player's Sackthing, which could cause gameplay issues for the affected player. Players whose Sackthings have been lethalized should now have their hazards removed after updating.

    • Gibberish voices from the pack have been added to the Magic Mouth for all players.
    • Nine new tutorials for features introduced in the Move Pack have been added.
    • New Pins and trophies for the Move Pack have been added.
    • PlayStation Move controllers can now be used to play the game.
  • Added three new Sensor gadgets for all players.
    • Speed Sensor detects how fast the attached object is moving.
    • Rotation Sensor detects the rotation speed of the attached object.
    • Angle Sensor sends a signal if the sensor is pointing in a certain direction.
  • Added the Slice 'N Dice Tool.
  • Added the More Stories section to the Pod main menu screen, providing quicker access to downloaded level kits.
  • Score Givers can now be set to activate score multipliers.
  • Added colour and opacity tweaks to the Water projectile.
  • Added new camera shake options to the Game Camera.
  • Added Triplets move to the Music Sequencer, toggled by pressing down on the D-Pad while editing an instrument.
  • Bounce Pads can now be tweaked to only bounce players when pressing Cross button, turning blue to differentiate them from standard Bounce Pads.
  • The Minimum and Maximum number of recommended players can now be set in the Gameplay Controls page of the Tools Bag.
  • Added the "PlayStation Move motion controller recommended" option to the Gameplay Controls section.
    • If a level contains objects that require a PlayStation Move controller, a prompt to enable this will appear when saving the level.
    • When enabled, if the player does not have a Motion Controller they will be prompted to connect it. Move-enabled levels can still be played regardless of whether a Motion Controller is connected.

Changes

  • Invisible Controlinators no longer make sounds when a player or Sackbot mounts or dismounts it.
  • Global Controls and Gameplay Controls are now on separate pages in the Tools Bag.

Fixes

  • Robot sounds that went missing in a previous update should be back now.
  • All players without danger tools should have received them now.
  • Local Space camera tweak now functions correctly.
  • All tweakable objects now react to signals.

Version 1.05

  • The game status on the XMB friend list now shows when a friend is playing story mode.
  • Minimum PS3 firmware requirement is now 3.60.

Fixes

  • Fixed the "Spawn Pop" / "Growing Sackboy" glitch.
  • Fixed a variation of the "Overlord" glitch, as well as issues relating to its creation.
  • Fixed a glitch that allowed the player's Sackboy to be resized or deformed.
  • Fixed an issue where text from magic mouths would follow the player back to their Pod and other levels.
  • Fixed an issue where a creator would be locked out of their level because a Sackbot was wearing a piece of DLC they didn't own.
  • Fixed an issue where outfits for some costumes collected in story mode would not appear in the Popit.
  • Fixed a bug where the sound would cut out during play.
  • It is no longer possible for non-host players to change the level's background from the Hearted page.

Downloadable Content

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where a player that imports a profile from a different user and declines the EULA can still play online.
  • Fixed a bug whereby a client leaving an online create session would hang when using the "Import Profile" option after being returned to their Pod.
  • Fixed an issue where some Japanese store descriptions contained visible HTML tags.
  • Fixed a bug where players that had imported beta profiles and were using DLC assets they didn't own could still use them.

Version 1.01 "Cupcake"

Changes

  • Added a "Reset Pod Decoration" button to the Profile section of the Settings menu.
  • Popit items with long descriptions can now be scrolled in a fixed width text box.
  • Level Keys can now be deleted in the Popit.
  • A visual indicator has been added to show how high the Bounce Pad will send players while tweaking it.
  • The options to watch the credits from the Settings menu is disabled while playing Homeward Bound.

Fixes

  • Pods that were missing, broken, blocked or contained create objects that shouldn't be there should now be reset to normal.
  • DLC costumes and Pods that were captured from community levels can no longer be selected in the Popit. Players wearing a glitched DLC costume after patching will have it removed.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Earth to obscure the Pod when changing PSN avatars.
  • Fixed the "Naux" glitch that caused Sackboy to appear squishy and unable to swim.
  • Story levels from the original LittleBigPlanet can no longer be accessed from the Hearted Levels page.
  • Stickers and decorations that only exist on players will no longer appear in the Used Objects page.
  • If the Pod was destroyed or contained objects that shouldn't have been there before this update, it will be reset upon starting the game.
  • Players are now prompted to save changes in Create when switching to Play Mode after changing the Audio Reverb.
  • Items in the shopping cart should now be preserved if connection to the servers is lost.
  • Fixed a bug caused by rapidly emitting and destroying spawn points.
  • Sound objects from the original LittleBigPlanet should now be imported correctly when using the option to do so upon booting the game.
  • The Clank costume has green eyes again.
  • Other unspecified bug fixes.
