The Race Position Sensor is a sensor gadget in LittleBigPlanet Karting that outputs a signal based on which position the player is in during a game.

Usage

Placement

The Race Position Sensor can only be placed onto a Spawn Point, or on the circuitboard of a microchip that has been placed onto a Spawn Point.

Output

The Race Position Sensor uses data from whichever player spawns at the host Spawn Point, and outputs a signal based on their standing in the current event.

The sensor outputs a digital ON signal as long as the kart is in first place, and an analogue signal based on their current position. The analogue signal strength is scaled depending on how many karts are in the game. For example, First and Last Place will always output 100% and 0% respectively, but Second Place outputs 50% in a 3-player game, 67% in a 4-player game, and so on.

Below is a table showing all possible signal strengths based on the number of karts in a game.

Position 1 Player 2 Players 3 Players 4 Players 5 Players 6 Players 7 Players 8 Players
1st 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100%
2nd N/A 0% 50% 67% 75% 80% 83% 86%
3rd N/A 0% 33% 50% 60% 67% 71%
4th N/A 0% 25% 40% 50% 57%
5th N/A 0% 20% 33% 43%
6th N/A 0% 17% 29%
7th N/A 0% 14%
8th N/A 0%
