Craftworld, otherwise known as LittleBigPlanet, is the titular planet that the story modes of LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet Portable, LittleBigPlanet 2, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure take place on, and the humble home to the likes of Sackboy and many of the reoccurring characters throughout the franchise. It resembles Earth, however it is made out of different types of cloth and wools.

Overview

Craftworld has been the main location throughout most of the games, and is a very important planet throughout the Craftverse. It is told in the introductions of the games that it was formed by the ideas and imaginations of people in the real world. In Sackboy: A Big Adventure, The Center of Craftworld hosts a large tree reminiscent of the iconic Mushroom Tree from the LittleBigPlanet Logo, where all of Craftworld's creativity emits from.

Sackboy (usually called Sack Thing by Craftworld's residents) is viewed as the hero of Craftworld, stopping the various villains and forces that bring danger to the planet. Defeating the likes of The Collector and his machines, The Negativitron and its army of Meanies, returning everything stolen by The Hoard back to its rightful place, and even stopping the plans of Vex and his Topsy Turver.

After the events of LittleBigPlanet 3 in which the evil Titans were sealed away on Bunkum, Sack Thing brings OddSock, Toggle, and Swoop back to Craftworld through Newton's dimensional doorway. Although Craftworld itself is not explored in the main story mode of LittleBigPlanet 3, the events of The Journey Home Level Kit take place here.

History

While the main world that most games in the series takes place in, the appearance of Craftworld tends to vary from title to title, the first instance of which being within the original LittleBigPlanet, has a close resemblance to Earth itself, with the eight themes from the first game's story mode residing within their respective continents and countries. This is the most iconic form of Craftworld shown throughout most forms of media, stickers and promotional material even past the second title, and is generally the most recognizable interpretation. This form of Craftworld is also present within LittleBigPlanet Portable, also containing the seven various Themes from the game.

This form of Craftworld changes with the release of LittleBigPlanet 2, showing a Craftworld in your Pod that is more barren and dull with brown and beige colors. This is more of a design choice to entice players to customize their Craft Earth with the newly developed Planet Customization features; it is generally accepted that Craftworld itself within the lore of the games still looks the same as it did in previous titles. However, when entering Story Mode within the second game, the planet changes design when hovering over each of the six different Themes. Some may confuse these as different planets entirely, but is in-fact still the same Craftworld as before, and only exists as a thematic addition. This also extends to LittleBigPlanet Karting with its depiction of thematic planets as well.

This design introduced within LittleBigPlanet 2 continues to be present within future titles such as LittleBigPlanet Karting and LittleBigPlanet 3, with LittleBigPlanet PS Vita still using the green version; although the stories of the third title and the PS Vita version do not take place within CraftWorld, but is periodically mentioned and referenced to. It is also known that some of the non-licensed DLC Level Kits take place within Craftworld, such as the LittleBigPlanet 2 Move Pack and The Journey Home.

When it comes to Sackboy: A Big Adventure, it is unclear if such a game is a complete reboot or a soft-reboot of the franchise. But as of now, it is safe to portray its Craftworld as the same one from previous titles, albeit through a fairly different artistic lens and scope.
