When a character touches the Layer Launcher's face place, they will be launched across an arc specified in its tweak menu. Like Bounce Pads, only characters can be affected by the Layer Launcher, with all other objects being ignored. Layer Launchers will normally launch characters the instant they touch the faceplace - indicated by a white light - but an alternate mode can be enabled in the tweak menu where players must press {{button|cross}} while standing on top of the Layer Launcher to activate it, indicated by a blue light.

The Layer Launcher's landing zone, or arc, can be adjusted via its tweak menu. The position can be changed using {{button|lstick}} and moved in and out of the screen with {{button|l1}} and {{button|l2}}. Pushing {{button|rstick}} up or down increases or decreases the height of the arc, affecting how long characters take to move through the layers. If the landing zone is at least one layer in front of the Layer Launcher, then the faceplate will point away from the screen. But if it is on the same layer or behind it, the faceplate will point into the screen.

While the launch trajectory is affected by flipping the object, it is not affected by its rotation in the scene. Despite this the controls for editing the arc are affected by the Layer Launcher's orientation, e.g. if the object is rotated to be upside-down, then the controls will be inverted. Therefore, it is generally advised to tweak the arc at the Layer Launcher's default orientation before rotating it.

The way [[Toggle (Character)|Toggle]]'s alternate forms were implemented can be exploited to store Layer Launcher momentum and apply it later in level. By changing forms on the same frame as activating a Layer Launcher, the momentum from the launch is stored with whichever form activated it, and will be applied the next time Toggle changes form. This usually results in Toggle being launched into the air when changing to whichever form was used to store the launch, though depending on its arc, it's also possible for horizontal momentum to be stored.

The Layer Launcher is a variant of the Bounce Pad introduced in LittleBigPlanet 3 that is used to launch characters through layers to a specific landing zone.

Usage and Behaviour

When a character touches the Layer Launcher's face place, they will be launched across an arc specified in its tweak menu. Like Bounce Pads, only characters can be affected by the Layer Launcher, with all other objects being ignored. Layer Launchers will normally launch characters the instant they touch the faceplace - indicated by a white light - but an alternate mode can be enabled in the tweak menu where players must press Cross button while standing on top of the Layer Launcher to activate it, indicated by a blue light.

Landing Zone

The Layer Launcher's landing zone, or arc, can be adjusted via its tweak menu. The position can be changed using Left stick and moved in and out of the screen with L1 button and L2 button. Pushing Right stick up or down increases or decreases the height of the arc, affecting how long characters take to move through the layers.

Input and Output

The Layer Launcher has an input that allows it to be turned on or off using logic. When deactivated, the light turns off and characters will not be launched from it. It also has an output, which sends out a pulse signal whenever a character launches from it.

Momentum Storage

The way Toggle's alternate forms were implemented can be exploited to store Layer Launcher momentum and apply it later in level.
