A Snapshot Camera, known as a Photo Booth in the original LittleBigPlanet, is a Camera gadget that takes a picture and saves it to the player's Popit.

Usage and Behaviour

The Snapshot Camera can be placed like any other gadget, however, it cannot be resized normally. When activated, the Snapshot Camera takes a photo at its set Angle & Zoom after its countdown has elapsed. Unlike the other camera types, the Snapshot Camera does not have an input; it can only be activated by player proximity. It also cannot be tested in Create Mode, only functioning in Play Mode and in Tutorials.

Photos taken by a Snapshot Camera will appear in the My Pictures section of the Popit, under the "My Photobooth Photos" category, and can be used in the same way as photos created with the Take A Photo Tool. The Snapshot Camera will not save photos for any players that have disabled the "Collect Photo Booth Pictures" option in their Profile Settings, or for players that have hearted all their existing Photobooth Photos and have reached the limit.

Apart from a new name, being resized for parity with the other camera types, and receiving a visibility tweak, the Photobooth did not see any major, bespoke updates between the first game and the second; most of the changes between games came from general adjustments made to all camera types and their editing interfaces (i.e. updated Angle & Zoom controls in LittleBigPlanet 2, the ability to change the layer range of trigger zones in LittleBigPlanet 3).

While it was used a few times throughout the Story Mode in the original LittleBigPlanet, it has scarcely been used in subsequent games. In LittleBigPlanet 3, for instance, the only level that uses a Snapshot Camera is the seventh Popit Puzzle: Connectors.

Angle & Zoom

The camera's Angle & Zoom can be edited through the Tweak Menu. Pushing Left stick pans the camera in the direction held, while Right stick tilts the camera angle. In the original LitteBigPlanet, the camera can be zoomed in with L2 button / R2 button, and out with L1 button / R1 button. In LittleBigPlanet 2 and onward, only L1 button and L2 button affect the zoom; R1 button and R2 button affect the Roll on other cameras, however, Roll does not apply to the Snapshot Camera.

Pressing Cross button sets the new Angle & Zoom, while Circle button cancels the edit and reverts it to the previous setting. Starting in LittleBigPlanet 2, the camera's Position and Pitch can be reset to their defaults by clicking L3 button and R3 button respectively.

Trigger Zone

As with Angle & Zoom, the Trigger Zone can be edited through the Tweak Menu. Pushing Left stick moves the trigger zone in the held direction, while Right stick resizes the box; up/down to make it taller or shorter, and left/right to make it longer or thinner.

In the original LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2 and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita, the trigger zone is represented as a 2D box, and detects players regardless of which layer they are on. In LittleBigPlanet 3, it is represented as a 3D cuboid, and can be set to only detect players in a specific layer range. Pressing L1 button and L2 button moves the zone in/out of the screen, whilst R1 button and R2 button make the zone thicker or thinner.

The Trigger Zone's X/Y/Z position is relative to the gadget's position, however, it does not update with its rotation; if the Trigger Zone is placed directly beneath the camera, and the gadget rotates 180°, the Trigger Zone will still be positioned directly beneath the camera despite the gadget's rotation.
