Not to be confused with the Layer Launcher.

The Launch Pad is gameplay object in LittleBigPlanet Karting that launches karts to a specific landing zone. Its appearance is identical to the Bounce Pad, but with pink lights to differentiate it. It comes in standard and wide variants.

The Launch Ramp is an object that karts can drive up to be launched to a specific landing zone. Aside from collision and visual differences, they share the same functionality as Launch Pads.

Usage and behaviour

When a kart drives into a Launch Pad, it will be launched a set distance and height based on the values in its tweak menu. In Create Mode, a preview of the trajectory is represented by a transparent yellow line; highlighting a Launch Pad with the Popit Cursor will make the line brighter and draw a sphere at the landing zone. After being launched drivers can steer in mid-air with Left stick, unless Air Control is turned off. If an object stands between the kart and the landing zone, the game will attempt to push the kart past or through the object, provided it is not lethalized.

Although they share the same functionality, the difference between Launch Pads and Ramps is that, similar to Bounce Pads, Launch Pads have no collision; dynamic objects will pass through them and drivers can be launched when touching it from any angle. Separately, Launch Ramps have collision to stop drivers and objects being launched from the sides; karts will only be launched if they drive onto the motorized conveyor.
