Level description

Zone Control is a competitive versus minigame in the DC Comics Premium Level Kit. It is unlocked by finding its Level Key inside the Watchtower.

Overview

The goal of Zone Control is to capture as many score nodes as possible in order to achieve the most points before time runs out. Capturing a node is as simple as entering its detection radius, whether that means walking in front of it, or sliding past it if it's attached to a Wall Jump Surface. Once a node is captured, its colour changes to match the owner's Popit, and they will receive 10 points every three seconds. If a player activates a node that has already been captured by another player, they will become the new owner of that node and receive points from it.

Arenas

Zone Control features five different areans to play in, each based on one of the level kit's environments. All of the arenas have a symmetrical layout. Only the Watchtower arena is available to play at the start, with the Temple and Factory arenas becoming available after the first playthrough. The Alaska and Hall of Doom arenas must be unlocked by completing Ice Cold In Alaska and An Appointment With Doom respectively — but as the player is not supposed to access Zone Control itself until after rescuing Green Lantern, the Alaska arena ends up being unlocked alongside the second and third arenas anyway.

The Watchtower 60.0s 6 None
The Watchtower arena is the smallest and easiest arena to play on, with the fewest score nodes and the shortest time limit. There are no additional hazards or powerups to get to grips with.

Trouble At The Temple 90.0s 10 Grappling Hook
The Temple arena increses the scope and injects some mild peril with a pit of lava and alternating flamethrowers guarding the Bounce Pads in the bottom corners. It also incorporates the Grappling Hook, with a grabbable wheel in the centre that can be used to swing into three score nodes dangling in the air.

A Chemical Overreaction 90.0s 10 Hero Cape
The Factory arena makes use of the Hero Cape with many score nodes suspended in mid-air. The Wall Jump Surfaces on far sides of the arena are hazardous by default, so players must jump into the corresponding button to disable the hazard long enough to make their way up, capturing score nodes on the way.

Ice Cold In Alaska 90.0s 10 Creatinator
The frozen underground base has two central platforms being raised by ice blocks; players can use the Meltinator to lower the platforms and hitch a ride to the upper level. The upper central platform is covered in slippery ice.

An Appointment With Doom 90.0s 10 Hero Cape
The Hall of Doom is by far the deadliest arena, as many of the score nodes are above, or in the way of certain doom. Four of the score nodes are in the openings of a pipe loop that's being patrolled by a gooey hazard that instantly kills any Sackthing on contact. The Wall Jump Surfaces on the arena's sides are conveyor belts that players can ride up.
