Level description

The Watchtower is a space station that serves as the Justice League's headquarters, and is the central hub level in the DC Comics Premium Level Kit, to which the player will return after finishing most of its levels. It is also the setting for two of the kit's cutscenes.

Overview

The Watchtower is divided into three sections: the central room contains the entrance and a giant screen that displays Cyborg's latest mission (if there is one). The west wing houses teleporters to the main levels, as well as prison cells containing the villains the player has captured so far. Entering one of these teleporters for the first time brings the player to one of three tutorial sub-levels; on subsequent uses, a prompt appears asking if they wish to replay that level's tutorial. The door on the far left leads to the Javelin, with a cold storage room underneath it.

The east wing houses the Challenge Area, which consists of three teleporters: one which takes the player back to the Introduction, and the other two lead to the Hero Race and Zone Control side levels. The latter two only become active once player collects their respective Level Keys. To the right of Zone Control's entrance is a small room where the player can use the Grappling Hook to collect some bubbles. Taking the elevator allows the player to jump on top of the giant screen above the entrance, and access a greenhouse room with the Hero Cape.

This level utilises the Memoriser to trigger events based on the player's progress through the level kit. At the start, the player only has access to the entrance and the first room on the west wing. When Batman is rescued at the end of Trouble At The Temple, the east wing opens up and two wall jump panels on the west wing are revealed, granting access to A Chemical Overreaction. Rescuing The Flash unlocks the entrance to Ice Cold In Alaska, and opens the elevator on the east wing. Once Green Lantern has been rescued, the hangar on the far west unlocks and the player can fly the Javelin to the Hall of Doom for An Appointment With Doom and the Mecha-Lex boss fight; at this point, the player has unlocked every area in the Watchtower. Once the player defeats the Mecha-Lex, Cyborg will appear wandering around the central room, with Superman and Green Lantern doing maintenance on the Javelin in the hangar.

Level Keys

The following is a list of Level Key locations:

  • In the greenhouse room above the Challenge Area on the east wing, Hero Race's key can be reached with a series of wall jumps into a glide under an oxygen tank. This can only be accessed once The Flash has been rescued.
  • In the cold storage room underneath the Javelin on the west wing, Zone Control's key is trapped inside an ice cube, which can be melted using the Meltinator. This can only be accessed once Green Lantern has been rescued.
