Arcade Kit
The Arcade Kit, also known as the Arcade Pack or Arcade DLC, was a content pack designed to be released for LittleBigPlanet as post-launch downloadable content. Prior to being cut, it was intended to introduce logic gadgets to LittleBigPlanet's create mode. Despite the DLC growing large in size during its development, the Arcade Kit would never see a full release, instead having nearly all its features pushed towards development of the previously unanticipated sequel title, LittleBigPlanet 2.
Overview
During LittleBigPlanet's active support and development of further content for the game, there was no intention for a sequel title. Instead, the game was slated to continue to receive DLC releases, of which the Arcade Kit was included in that roster.[1] As the Arcade Kit continued development, it grew large in size and ambition, to the point of being considered difficult to manage in terms of features and visuals within the scope of LittleBigPlanet.[1] Eventually, coinciding with Media Molecule's decision to start development on LittleBigPlanet 2, the Arcade Kit would be scrapped, with nearly all of its features repurposed for the sequel. The gadgets included in the kit underwent multiple design revisions under Media Molecule designers like Kengo Kurimoto,[1] eventually landing on a consistent, streamlined art pass that would carry on through the rest of the LittleBigPlanet series.
Two hallmark features of the Arcade Kit included logic and the direct control gadgets; the latter were merged and dubbed the controlinator
The TGS 2009 Move demo build prominently includes data and assets for the Arcade Kit.
