Overview
The Seaside, also known as English Seaside, was a scrapped theme for the original LittleBigPlanet. Its background was based on Brighton Palace Pier, with the levels being themed around pirates and sea monsters. Despite being prominently featured in prerelease media, it was cut late in development due to quality concerns[citation needed].
History
Original Storyline
The theme was intended to take place between The Gardens and The Savannah, with the player taking a boat to get to The Seaside from The Gardens, and then a Submarine to get to The Savannah from The Seaside. The submarine transition still remains in the final game, replacing the boat transition in The Gardens.
Removal
The theme would end up being scrapped very late into the game's development cycle, with the developers explaining this was due to the lack of quality compared to other levels in the game, as well as not having enough time to improve them. The developers have mentioned plans on re-releasing this theme as a DLC later on[citation needed]
