Stickers are 2D images that can be plastered onto various surfaces to add detail or colour. Most are obtained through Prize Bubbles in the story levels, though players can also create their own stickers through various means.

Overview

Stickers can be accessed from the Stickers & Decorations section of the Popit menu. They can be placed onto many different surfaces, including materials, objects, gadgets, and even Sackthings. They are purely visual and do not affect the behaviour or physical properties of the objects on which they are placed.

Placement

When a sticker is selected, it will appear at the end of the player's cursor. It can be moved with Left Stick and scaled or rotated with Right Stick (Up/Down or Left/Right respectively). Clicking R3 will flip the sticker horizontally. Pressing X will place the sticker onto whatever surface the cursor is hovering over.

Once a sticker has been placed, the Sticker and Decoration Edit Tool can be used to reposition it, duplicate it with L3, or delete it with Triangle.

Usage

Sticker Sensors

Main article: Sticker Sensor.

Players can activate Sticker Sensors by placing a sticker within the sensor's detection range. If a Sticker Sensor is set to require a specific sticker, it will appear at the top of the Stickers page in a special "Switch Triggers" category, provided the player has actually collected that sticker. In the official story levels, these are used to gate certain prizes and bonuses until the player has found a sticker later on.

Sticker Panel

Main article: Sticker Panel.

When a sticker is placed onto a piece of Sticker Panel material, the portion around the sticker becomes transparent in Create Mode, and fully invisible in Play Mode, creating the illusion that the sticker is floating in mid-air.

Costumes

As stickers can be placed onto Sackthings, another common use for them is in custom costume creation. When the sticker cursor hovers over a player for a few seconds, the camera will zoom in on them and freeze their animations to help place the sticker. Pressing L1 or R1 in this state will turn the Sackthing around 90 degrees in either direction, letting them place stickers in spots that would be difficult to reach otherwise. They can also use L2 and R2 to tilt the camera above or below.

Limits

There are limits on the maximum number of stickers that can be placed on certain types of objects; once an object's sticker threshold has been reached, placing another sticker will delete the oldest one on that object to make room. These limits are defined in gamedata/data/limits_settings.lmt, and vary from game to game.
