To do: think of something mildly witty to put in here.
To do: Source the developer quotes - I don't remember what interview I read that they removed it over quality concerns, I just know that it's true.
Also, go more in-depth with the asset distribution, maybe with just a better item list. (Something like the prize bubble sections for levels)

Overview

The Seaside theme, also known as English Seaside, was a theme for the original LittleBigPlanet that was cut late in development.

History

Original Storyline

The theme was intended to take place between The Gardens and The Savannah, with the player taking a boat to get to The Seaside from The Gardens, and then a Submarine to get to The Savannah from The Seaside. The submarine transition still remains in the final game, replacing the boat transition in The Gardens.

Why it was Cut

According to the developers, the theme was removed because the level content wasn't the same quality as the other themes, and there wasn't enough time before release to polish the levels.

Repurposed Content

Some of the assets were put into the common category, with the ball objects and some of the stickers.

The Gardens had a couple stickers shoved into the theme, mostly sign stickers and some scenic stickers.

The Savannah had a couple stickers and decorations added, as well as animal objects.

The Wedding had skull and treasure chest stickers moved into it.

The Canyons had the wood materials and some stickers added to it.

The Metropolis had metal materials, the deck chair materials, and some food stickers added to it.

The Wilderness had some stickers redistributed into it.

Pirates of the Caribbean

A developer mentioned that although the theme was scrapped, they hoped to implement it later in downloadable content - some of which was eventually reused in the Pirates of the Caribbean Kit - (Namely, gibberish voices and the background's ambience sounds)

LittleBigPlanet Hub & 3

Some of the background assets were taken and repurposed for LittleBigPlanet HUB's seaside theme. Most of the content from this HUB theme was then taken and repurposed for LittleBigPlanet 3's Seaside Suprise Kit.
