PlayStation Eye® Camera Templates are a special type of user-sticker that take in camera data from the PlayStation®Eye to be used as a sticker. This was the only way to bring images from outside of the game without the removed Image Import Tool.

Usage

A PlayStation®Eye first needs to be plugged in to use the templates; once it is plugged in, you can navigate to the PlayStation®Eye Camera Templates page in the Stickers & Decorations menu. A preview of the camera's view will be displayed in the templates available. The image will be saved to your My Photos page when a template is placed down as a sticker with Cross button.

History

Eyetoy

Originally the PlayStation®Eye templates were built to be used with the EyeToy, a camera intended for the PlayStation 2.

Early

Some early frame variants exist in the Deploy build, including a heart, mona lisa, and a blue paint square. These early frames don't have cropping masks, so they would apply on top of the original square camera preview.

Vita

In LittleBigPlanet PS Vita, the camera templates were consolidated into a more involved "Take A Photo" tool that utilises the system's built-in cameras.

Tapping the picture frame icon in the bottom left of the screen cycles between the available picture frames, while the button just above it applies one of a few different filters.

Pressing Square button or tapping the button in the bottom right switches from the rear camera to the front camera, and vice-versa.

Pressing R button takes a photo, and the player is asked if they want to save the result as a sticker in their Popit.

PS4

In the PlayStation 4 version of LittleBigPlanet 3, the PlayStation®Eye Camera Templates are referred to as PlayStation®Camera Templates for parity with that system's camera peripheral.

Bugs

Default Image

It's possible to place a template without the camera data loaded; this results in the template using the PlayStation®Eye symbol as the baked image.

Unloaded Image

It's possible to place a template that isn't a baked image; this means that when you pull out the PlayStation®Eye and navigate to the templates page, the placed template will load in the preview image for the camera's view. While this might appear to be visible to all players, the preview image used is client-side only.
