Higginbotham's Mind (also spelled Higinbotham's Mind[1]) was the sixth theme of LittleBigPlanet 2's story mode during early development; It was designed around psychedelic and retro 8-bit visuals and music.[1]

Overview

Higginbotham's Mind was designed as the sixth theme for LittleBigPlanet 2 in early layouts of the game's story mode. Its name refers to Dr. Herbert Higginbotham and may have been related to the creator curator. In concept art created for the theme, its design varied widely, ranging from futuristic technology and psychedelic patterns to retro video games and arcades. The narrative and gameplay for Higginbotham's Mind is largely ambiguous, existing between Eve's Asylum and the early Cosmos.

Described by soundtrack composer Kenneth Young, music direction for Higginbotham's Mind was designed after the theme's art direction, based around "retro 8-bit" and "psychedelic" music.[1]

Higginbotham's Mind was developed up to the end of 2009 and contains few remaining assets in later builds. Among these are the Computerhead outfit and stickers derived from concept art. Concept art shows multiple background revisions as existing for the theme. Development for Higginbotham's Mind would be discontinued after it was merged with the Cosmos, of which the latter theme took considerable inspiration from later designs for Higginbotham's Mind.
