This article is a tad short. A stub, if you will. You can help the Imagisphere Knowledge Base by expanding it with more information! |
The LittleBigPlanet 2 2010-05-05 prototype, also known as the Pre-Alpha, is a prototype of LittleBigPlanet 2 for the PlayStation 3. This build is believed to have been used to record the gameplay seen in the announcement trailer, as many of the prerelease differences seen there are present here.
The story mode exhibits numerous differences from the final game, with the script, level layouts, music, and even progression all seeing radical changes before release. Many levels can be played and beaten, but a full playthrough from start to finish is impossible due to a handful of Controlinator centric levels being broken and thus unbeatable, including the boss of Avalonia.
Many of LittleBigPlanet 2's new Create Mode tools are present in some form, but most of them have functional or visual differences. Additionally the build has native USB keyboard and mouse support, as well as a full debug menu.
History
The data from this build was found on a PlayStation 3 Debugging Station as installed game data. While much of the data was present on the debugging station, the blurayguids.map, as well as external music and videos were missing, possibly indicating that they were streamed from a disc that has since been lost.
The installed game data was released as-is on April 22, 2021, and since then efforts to restore the build to a playable state have been made. On December 25, 2023, as part of the Imagisphere 2023 Mega Release, a restoration patch was released.
Comparisons
- Rather than being a purely linear experience, story progress is dictated by Collectabubbles; sets of levels are unlocked as the player collects story items in each of the six worlds.
Keyboard and Mouse Support
To do: This probably isn't all of them. |
This build includes native support for USB keyboards and mice, which is active by default. Many of the functions are specific to Create Mode.
