The LittleBigPlanet 2008-6-24 prototype, also known as the "Seaside Build" is the first build of the original LittleBigPlanet to surface that contained the sought after Seaside background.
History
The build was recovered from a PS3 HDD Image that was released in 2019; the image also contained profile data from the VICE Magazine issue on LittleBigPlanet, including some user levels from Kate Moross.
Initially, it was believed there was nothing on the drive besides the user data and the August 28th, 2008 Localization Build, until it was noticed that the Seaside background icon was fully recovered from the data. Scanning tools were developed by Ennuo and a collaborative effort of manually extracting/sorting files was made from MysteriousCube, Cancerious, and ColinMacQ. The build was released on October 28th, 2020, with the entire files (excluding audio, video, and a bootable EBOOT.BIN) being fully recovered a year later by 2021.
Notable Differences
Besides the Seaside background being present, this build has entirely unique levels at this stage in development, and looking at the scripts it appears it would have had a functional Ice Hazard. The build also contains files not referenced in the Deploy build, including some early variants of the "My Advice" tracks dubbed here as "Pizzicato" tracks. One in particular, i_pizz_travelling
is a unique interactive track that does not appear in the final release of the game.
