The Motion Recorder is a mover gadget introduced in the LittleBigPlanet 2 Move Pack, and is used to move objects along paths created with a PlayStation Move Motion Controller. It is also included as part of the default toolset in LittleBigPlanet PS Vita, where the touch screen is used instead. It can move any physical object except Sackbots and players.
Usage and behaviour
To use the Motion Recorder, an animation must be recorded. This is done by selecting the Record button in its tweak menu and picking up the highlighted object with (touch in LBP Vita). The object's starting position becomes an anchoring point; whatever gestures are made with the Motion Controller or the touch screen will be saved to the gadget. Letting go of (or the touch screen) at any point will stop the recording and automatically undo. From this point onward, whenever the Motion Recorder is activated the object will follow the path that was created.
Exact Looping
Pressing at any point while recording activates Exact Looping. A green ring will appear at the object's starting position; moving the object near the ring will cause it to snap back to its starting point, completing the recording.
Button recording
In LittleBigPlanet 2 and LittleBigPlanet 3, the Motion Recorder has three outputs corresponding to the , and buttons. Pressing one of these buttons sets a flag at that point in the recording; when played back, the respective outputs will send signals at the points they were pressed during the recording. This allows additional logic to be triggered at specific points in the recording. All three of these outputs were removed in LittleBigPlanet PS Vita.
