The Hoard are a race of intergalactic scavengers who serve as the main antagonists of LittleBigPlanet Karting, as well as the collective Creator Curator of Hoard, Sweet Hoard. Driven by pure greed, they travel across the Imagisphere in their ramshackle karts, stealing anything and everything they can get their hands on, and stashing their loot on their home planet.

General information

Costumes

Internally, there are five Hoard costumes, each with a different colour scheme: Hoardratio (beige/brown), Hoards McGee (yellow/blue), Hoardelle (purple/green), Hoardenstein (green/red), and Hoardford (brown/black). Only Hoards McGee and Hoardford are used in-game, though Hoardratio is often seen in promotional art.

All of the Hoard racers use special costume pieces that are unobtainable through normal means; they all use the same base model, and their different patterns are simply skins that can be swapped out in the Popit menu. Because of how the Hoard costume was implemented, it is possible to mix these with standard Sackboy costume pieces, although this is never utilized in practice.

Especial Hoards

In certain levels, there are special Hoard 'bosses' who wear the Hoardford costume, and most of them use the Hoard's special karts. They feature more advanced AI and have names that include noble, hierarchical, or power-related titles. Unlike regular Hoards, their names and karts don't necessarily match the area in which they appear.

Trivia

• The Hoard Unicycle is based in a Monowheel. A curios unicycle origined in the victorian era.
• The Baron Hoard could be a reference to the Red Baron, or more broadly to the association between the title 'Baron' and aviation, a link popularized by the legacy of that legendary pilot.
