To do: Many of the tutorials award items on their completion; these should be documented. |
The Tutorials are a series of videos made to teach new players how to use the create tools found in each LittleBigPlanet game. They are often, but not always, accompanied by a small level in which the player has to use the given tools to complete a simple objective.
In the original LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet Portable tutorial videos can be rewatched at any time from the Start menu after the player has watched it at least once.
History
LittleBigPlanet (PlayStation 3)
In the original LittleBigPlanet.
Each tutorial level contains pre-built structures, with the player spawning above a button that plays a video explaining how to use a given tool. The Queen can be found nearby, who gives the player a task to complete. While these tasks are fairly easy to complete, this is the only game in the series where the Create Mode tutorials have a defined failure state; some levels will bring up a "Tutorial Failed" message if, for example, the player deletes an important item, or activates an object too early.
Once all of the tutorials have been finished, the "Play Next Tutorial" button disappears from the main Popit menu, but the tutorial levels can still be replayed by pressing on a Popit item and selecting its corresponding "Tutorial" button. Furthermore, once a player has watched a given tutorial video, it can be re-watched at any time from the Videos And Voice Overs section of the Start Menu.
As revealed in a tweet by Media Molecule[1], impatient players can input the following cheat code on the credits to skip the tutorials and access all create tools immediately:
However, this does not unlock the Expert Creator trophy; players that use this cheat will need to complete the tutorials properly later to earn it.
LittleBigPlanet (PlayStation Portable)
Rather than using in-game footage, the tutorials are 2D animations made by Kazoo Creative.

- Main article: Popit Puzzles
LittleBigPlanet 3 handles tutorials differently from past games. While there are a small selection of narrated videos introducing basic gameplay concepts, this game's method of teaching new players how to create comes in the form of the Popit Puzzles — a series of fourteen levels where players use Create Mode tools to solve problems and collect prizes whilst doing so.
The Popit Puzzles and How To Play videos are the only tutorials present in the PlayStation 3 version of the game. However, before the official servers were taken down, the PlayStation 4 version offered a wider selection of tutorials covering every gadget in the game; these were streamed from the internet, as opposed to being present in the game's data. Presumably as a byproduct of the way tutorials are handled, all of the Create Mode tools in LittleBigPlanet 3 can be used right away without watching a single tutorial.
