Template:Dead link

This template is used to mark dead links, i.e. external links which point to a web page that has since been taken offline, and for which no archive or alternative source is available. Pages containing this template will appear in the Dead links category.

Before adding this template to a page, it's worth searching to see if an archived copy of the dead link exists on a service like the Wayback Machine, so that it can be replaced instead.

Usage

Simply place this template after a non-functioning link. Fill in the |1= parameter to set a title that will appear when hovering the mouse cursor over the text.
